Favorite/Preferred Game Programming Software?

Post by NMario84 » Mon Jan 06, 2020 5:29 am

There are LOTS of different ways to program a video game, though a person can learn to develop in one software. So which of these programs do you prefer when it comes to game development?

Here's some references/links of the provided choices in the poll.
- Clickteam Fusion: http://www.clickteam.com/
- Game Maker Studio: https://www.yoyogames.com/
- Stencyl: http://www.stencyl.com/
- GDevelop: https://gdevelop-app.com/
- Construct: https://www.construct.net/en - or - https://www.scirra.com/
- Godot: https://godotengine.org/
- Unity: https://unity.com/
- LOVE: https://love2d.org/

Personally I love Clickteam Fusion because it's very easy to use, and there's like no obscure/advanced scripts required to make a game. But everyone has their own opinions.

He seems to love it when I do that to him. I don't mind at all. It shows that we're best friends.

Never used anything besides just coding in C#, abandonware Game Maker, and Clickteam Fusion
Might try Godot but as of right now my favorite game making software that I've used is Clickteam Fusion
Does this look like the face of mercy to you?

I use Construct2 because with it I can program without coding! Instead, it uses an "Event" system, where said events are the "IF"s, and each event has a number of actions trigger when the event happens.

The free version only allows for a maximum of 100 events, 4 layers and 2 effects, but even within such limitations it is possible to create games such as these:

I can attest to that, having myself attempted (and failed) to make a Survival Horror game with it. Proof that this is possible can be found aplenty, with games such as Corpse Party, Misao, Yume Nikki, .flow, and so on...
