Suggested Format for Fan Challenges

Post by D-Man » Tue Jul 23, 2019 3:25 pm

The Fan Challenges subforum has just recently been created, but the two contest ideas we have so far could use some more elaboration. To that end, I've created a format idea which would allow users to better organize their ideas.
  • Name: What you'd like to call the challenge. Be creative!
  • What is it?: A brief explanation of the challenge's theme.
  • Rules: Outline what is mandatory for a level to qualify for your challenge, and what is banned. (E.g. levels must only have Bass playable; no carbon copy remakes)
  • Deadline: Define the date/time at which participants are expected to have their levels ready for posting/judging.
  • Prize: If applicable, define what's at stake in your contest. This could help generate interest.
If you have any ideas on how to make the format better, do post them here and we'll discuss them.

This is a good format to use! My one suggestion is to change the name from "Deadline" to "Ends"

This format looks rather familiar... :ugeek:

Hey, if it works don't fix it. I'd be on board for encouraging this, as it would make things easier to understand / explain on both sides. Of course, it's not like we can force people to use it, but it'd be a nice QoL recommendation.

Users don't necessarily have to organize their ideas exactly like this, which is why I called it a "suggestion". I'm not entirely familar with the format the MMMCE used, so I didn't know I was copying it.
Do you think this should be moved somewhere else?

Nope, it's perfect here. I'd like to encourage the use of this format wherever possible for fan challenges. Thread has been stickied! Good format, D-Man.

I decided to merge 'Requirements" with "Limitations" to create "Rules", as they were very similar to each other now that I think about it.
