Your thoughts on Rockman and Forte FC

Post by Gravitrax64 » Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:40 pm

So recently I've heard that Rockman and Forte FC is in development and apparently it is true. I want to know everyone's thoughts on it.

The original Rockman & Forte was one the worst Mega Man game that I played, this 8-bit remake will be better anyway. In 8-bit system there will be less graphical... ehm... functions like you may not cut Magic Man literally, it deals damage but cutting effect may not be seen. Although some effects are lack, this remake can pass the original.About music; music is inverse of visual graphics to me because this time 8-bit sounds are better than 16-bit, 32-bit and much better than 3D.

I'm forgetting the English language, we're not in 2016 anymore.

I can only hope this fan game recreation gets a massive difficulty curve and game balance overhaul, the original is a masochistic mess.

Honestly, I don't think the original Mega man and Bass was a bad game at all, I just think it was a difficult game. Honestly though, I just can't wait to finally see an 8-bit version of it. When I was little, I knew there were 8-bit versions of MM7 and 8, but It drove me nuts how there was no 8-bit version of MM&B. I honestly am excited about it and I truely hope they do the same with MM11.

At least I hope it lacks the hiccups that Rockman 8 FC had.

I have some doubts over this project. The benefits of making an FC demake is that it uses the standard 8x8 stage select, as well as the quicker game speed associated with the 8-bit titles and no stun reactions from bosses.

However, I fear that in trying to fix the faults of the original, they will end up playing it safe and creating bland, unthreatening stages. The preview for Tengu Man's stage in the Triple Direct seems that way, using the green cannons and cloud enemies very often with little variation in how they threaten the player (if at all) for the edited sections. While Mets, Cline G and Joe Classic were only used once in the original, this can be amended by including them in more rooms, rather than removing them outright.

BTW are we talking about Triple Squid or Trinitronity's version (or both)?

This is the first I've heard of a R&F FC remake.

Rockman 8 FC really has mediocre artwork and programming, and it feels inferior to the original game.

Technically it's unfinished, right? There are spritesheets for Time and Oil Man intended to be added as sub-bosses (replacing Cut and Wood Man), but they aren't in the game.

Well... I wasn't expecting to hear about Mega Man & Bass 8-bit demake ever again after playing authentically remade Rockman 7 and 8... until I saw the trailer.

I'm not sure if it's even worth the wait... Rockman 8 FC was made a decade ago (a decade ago, Carl!) - and the rumors about its spin-off getting the same treatment were not only curculating, but also already having graphical proof by then: sprites, backgrounds, tilesets, additional graphics - everything. And that version pretty much was stuck in Development Hell, and it never took off.
When I was looking at the trailer, I thought: "What in the name of Doctah Wahwee is happening? I see these Robot Masters looking very ugly while there are a lot of much better sprites to choose from..." I get it: it's the demo - and it takes a lot of effort to rework the assets.

Anyway... I don't think it's gonna be as successful as the previous demakes.

It looks GREAT.
Is the demo already available to public domain?
