(POLL)MM7, 8, 9 Robot Master Flashback (Patch 1.7 and beyond)

Post by Blue_Bummer » Fri Nov 01, 2019 5:09 pm

Granted if the Devs decide to continue to update MMM beyond patch 1.6 and ever revisit MM 7, 8 or 9 Robot Masters; which would you prefer to be focused on first to be added in a later patch?

Just going by the pattern set by the Developers of MMM we get roughly 4 RMs per game (looking at MMs 1-6), no idea if that will change in the future. More recent updates have Mega Mans 7, 8, and 9 with only 2 RMs represented.

Based on the predetermined rules established by the Developers for compatibility with MMM the following Robot Masters of 7, 8 and 9 seem most likely.. I'm not saying the other robot masters won't ever be in MMM, I'm not a developer and I don't pretend to be, I'm just going by the guidelines of what those in authority (the Developers) have laid out.

After careful review I personally chose MM8 with Frost Man and Aqua Man as my most wanted/preferred of this group.

The following are my personal preferences and opinions...

MM7

Freeze Man: My #1 Choice for this group simply because MMM could really use more Ice Themed Robot Masters. Jumps around so he's great for uneven floors, but his attack pattern uses ceilings. I suppose he could still use his ceiling icicle attack, but it not work if there isn't one (blast just flies away into the air). His floor ice blast could be made to scale uneven floors, but it's ability to freeze floors into ice would (probably?) complicate things coding wise.

Burst Man: My #2 Choice for this group. Would work with multiple types of rooms, can attack at range, doesn't require alot of special treatment.

Cloud Man: The easiest of this group to include in MMM and my least liked. Having Astro Man from MM8 already I'm not really interested in another flying orb-like Robot Master.

Slash Man: His jumping makes him ideal for MMM. Interesting melee style attack pattern. His jumping offscreen to drop red egg blobs would have to be removed/edited. Maybe have him jump into the air and hover while throwing the red blob eggs? ๐Ÿค”

MM8

Frost Man: My #1 Choice for this group again because of his Ice theme, but also because of his design. Sprite design for Frost Man as well as sprites for his attack could be taken from MM10, making him roughly the size of Concrete Man or slightly larger. His ceiling attack of ice blocks could be like how MMM has MM11 Block Man bricks drop from the top of the screen.

Aqua Man: My #2 Choice for this group because of lack of water themed Robot Masters. His pound floor/splash water from below attack could be made to auto spawn water from below regardless of whether water is in his room or not, similar to the ice block suggestion above. Then again if he's in a massive arena type room how would this work being potentially far removed from the lowest floor of a room? This part of his pattern could possibly have to be cut. ๐Ÿ˜ I'd accept that just to get him included into MMM.

His animation of drawing of water from below for his direct-able Water Cannon stream attack isn't necessary and could be left out. A Hydro Man who jumps, shoots Water Ballons, and the direct-able Water Cannon stream would be plenty for him as a MMM boss.

Tengu Man: Very versatile Robot Master since his attacks are primarily done from the air. Even though he's not my main choice his attacks would provide some interesting uses in MMM rooms, maybe even the most interesting of this group of Robot Masters. 8-)

MM9

The wonderful thing about MM9 is how every Robot Master would seem to work excellent in MMM due to their attack patterns with the exception of Splash Woman. The Devs could alter her in the same way they did Bubble Man with a water free room. They'd have to be creative about it as she doesn't use bubbles, maybe use her trident as she sits in one place? :?:

My two preferred picks of this group are Magma Man due to his design and lack of Fire Themed Robot Masters, and Hornet Man due to his unique nature theme and design.

I also voted for MM8 for Clown Man. I'm adapting Stephen King's IT and don't have a proper Pennywise.

My personal Robot Master wishlist may change depending on who accompanies Sheep Man into the 1.6 update. But for now...

MM7: Freeze Man and Slash Man
MM8: Frost Man and Search Man
MM9: Splash Woman and Hornet Man
MM10: Either Chill Man or Solar Man to accompany Sheep Man (though I'm willing to accept Pump Man)
MM11: Tundra Man and Torch Man (though I'm willing to accept Acid Man)
MM&B: Cold Man and Pirate Man (not really sure about needing Ground Man anymore...)

That was more than a misspell, I completely renamed him. I still don't know I kept writing Hydro, it's not in his description at all or even anywhere in the Mega Man series. :?

Still waiting for Robot Masters like Elec Man, Flash Man, and Shadow Man to be added.

Though, I would very much love MM7's Cloud Man and Proto Man as bosses in MMM (Even though MM7 Proto Man seems like a no-go).

I want Shadow Man because I have nobody to represent Koga in my Pokemon Red and Blue remake level... I had to make do with Toad Man, who I consider a water-type.

Me too. If we're registered for these forums were Mega Man gluttons, the popularity of the suggestion forum is a testament to that. :P When a game is this good is so easy to wanna gorge yourself with all this awesomeness.

Reason I started this poll was because MMM only having two robot masters each for MM7, 8 and 9 when all the rest have four robot masters in MMM. I'm guessing they'll add more robot masters to the roster of those three MM games before going farther back, in theory.

While I'm not too interested in Cloud Man myself, his attributes make him a prime candidate for MMM.

I voted for MM8 because they have more varieties of attacks than 8 bit or even 16 bit.

Here's some sprite work Zedicon did before he ever joined the MMM team featuring conversions of Robot Masters from MM7 and MM8 (as well as others). Excellent work, so great. โค๏ธ

After learning more on the process of Devs choosing Robot Masters, and keen observations from others of what preferred traits a Robot Master needs to be picked, it would appear the following from MM7 and MM8 seem most likely to make it into Mega Man Maker. ๐Ÿค”

These are due to the constraints of attack patterns and what masters can work the best in a variety of custom environments.

MM7

Burst Man and Cloud Man

MM8

Tengu Man and ??

I want to say Frost Man but I have my doubts due to his large size. ๐Ÿคจ

All sprites by Zedicon.

I'm more interested in the bosses from Megaman & Bass. After extensive playing to figure out their patterns, I narrowed my candidates to the ones I think would work best:
  • Cold Man
  • Burner Man
  • Magic Man
  • Tengu Man (&Bass Version)
The first two bosses would have to be edited slightly so that the player can avoid being cornered if they cannot slide/double jump. Beyond that, these bosses have certain quirks to set them apart from the ones we have now. I already wrote full suggestions for them, which can be posted sometime later.

Oh I'm certainly interested in any and all Robot Masters. :)
The purpose of this Poll was to ask users which they would like to see the Mega Man Makers Devs revisit first since Mega Man's 7, 8, and 9 currently only have two Robot Masters each while all the other games before them have four.

I imagine the Devs will someday look back and add 2 more RMs each from those games. I added the option "None of These" for people who don't desire any of those RMs.

Burner Man immediately comes to mind as a great candidate with his attack/movement patterns.

Cold Man's limitations might prevent the Devs from choosing him. His two ways of doing damage are his primary attack of Ice Wall, which cannot go through tiles, and contact damage which is very unlikely due to his poor mobility (small jump). The Mokumokumos he releases don't do damage.

Magic Man has a jump ability and several attacks that go through tiles, so he's another reasonable candidate.

I might be missing something, but Tengu Man's attack pattern seems the same as in MM8. :?: He still appears to be a RM the Devs would take a liking to for his presumable versatility in custom environments.

Now that 1.6 is out and drawing people to this forum, for the sake of greater feedback, hopefully a few more people will participate in the poll to perhaps inspire the Developers in their choices for future content.

I'll make new polls too, like I used to. I remember way back when I made an MM8 Weapons Poll as one of my first few posts: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7500&p=69293#p69293

Ice Wave
is a very desired weapon for me. It ranks high in that poll too. :)
