My first attempt to make Gemini Man fitter for uneven terrain

Post by DestroyerOfDestruction » Wed Jul 01, 2020 3:41 am

This is an experiment I was working on in the Megamix Engine after I got interested in searching why he was scrapped from Mega Man Maker. The code Mega Man Maker intended to use was extracted from the Make a Good Mega Man Level 2 engine, who would become the Megamix Engine. I probably noticed what the devs meant with unable to work on uneven terrain when he got stuck at different terrain heights.

I made him go back in order to test how could I make him fit for uneven terrain. The results are not optimal and I am not the king of programming either, but at least I found a way to make him less likely to get stuck for the solo phase.

Edit: I figured out the code by Renhoek is not made whatsoever for uneven terrain settings.

Is he jumping back to the left side of the arena specifically (like he does in Mega Man 3) or just jumping backward a bit? Seems like you're halfway there (though the other half could be the hard part).

Although I can't tell for sure, It looks almost as if Gemini Man is running into the wall, jumping, then bouncing off of it and flying backwards.

You can see this similar behavior happen in MM1 with Elec Man. When the player stands on top of the Guts Blocks, sometimes Elec Man runs into the blocks and jumps backwards, instead of jumping on top of them.

At the end it looks like Gemini Man just gave up, ran off and as he did threw you the Energy Element. I found that humorous. :P

In the Megamix Engine, the screen corners ith empty section work like that.

Eh, I don't think the devs want to alter a character that drastically.
