About the Weapon Analysis Series

Post by D-Man » Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:11 pm

I usually post Weapon Analyses on this subforum, with the intent of sharing knowledge of the weapons mechanics and interactions in both their original incarnation and their MMM versions. These try to be in depth, even going so far as to list the exact tile range some weapons have, as well as their type and elemental affinity.

Since 1.6 still hasn't come out, I haven't been able to finish the Thunder Wool analysis, since there's no way to gather in-depth info on it without the update. I was thinking of just skipping it temporarily and beginning the second loop of weapons.

If you have any ideas on how to make them better, do feel free to let me know.

I guess they could be kind of helpful, since knowing exactly how a weapon works can help making challenges around them, but personally I think they're more interesting than helpful (but honestly, they're probably both).

Here's the second loop of weapons that I plan on doing after Thunder Wool:
MM1 - Time Slow
MM2 - Metal Blade
MM3 - Gemini Laser
MM4 - Pharoah Shot
MM5 - Power Stone
MM6 - Plant Barrier
MM7 - Danger Wrap
MM8 - Flame Sword
MM9 - Hornet Chaser

MM10 and MM11 weapons are not listed yet since the full list of weapons included from these games hasn't been revealed yet.
Also, I can only do analyses for weapons whose origin game has been represented in MMM.

I think they are very informative and thank you for doing them. There's not much I can think of to improve what you are already doing - simple but complete descriptions of the weapons, concise and clearly worded analysis of their capabilities, statistic tables and graphic examples, it's all there. They remind me of old game strategy guides. I've had the idea that something similar included as a feature with the game would be greatly useful to players and designers; not the tutorial but a text with definitive breakdowns of things, and this is exactly how it should be done.

I get what you mean. Rockman 4 MI and Mega Man SFR had a feature like this, where in the weapon select menu, you can open a screen detailing the weapons' power, capacity, speed, and rate of fire, as well as a description of what features the weapons have.

I would like to see some analysis on....

Search Snake
Wind Storm
Water Wave

Basically I'm wanting to see the strengths and differences of the different available floor crawlers in MMM. Thanks D-Man.

I'll get to those eventually. Originally I was going to do Water Wave for MM5, but then the Scramble Thunder reveal came, and I thought that would be more interesting (hence why Power Stone was covered instead). I try not to do overly similar weapons one after the other.
