The version number in that update is a Touhou joke, because Perfect Freeze and the Croaker enemy were added. The weapon belongs to an ice fairy named Cirno, who has a habit of freezing the local frogs of the lake she lives on, and due to a joke in one Touhou game's manual, Cirno became associated with number 9.

The longest update delay interim length had to do with Wrecking Programs having an injury..

Since that's not the case for the latest update...

Means something big is happening behind the scenes... Long duration of development means work is being done beyond what they used to do... and the team is bigger than when MMM development began... yet it's still taking a long time so that adds to the theory of big things happening... OhboyOhboyOhboy...

Brace yourselves ladies and gents, I have a feeling release day is going to be something glorious. 8-)

Actually... no. The long delay is because the dev team has started school/university and are busy studying, so they don't have as much time to work on Mega Man Maker.

My theory is based upon development time for updates last year at this time vs this current year...

Your answer make sense if none of them were were in school last year. Were none of the Devs in school last fall? :?: Why was the previous fall development so much faster vs now? They had a smaller team then vs now, wouldn't that make development faster? 🤔

EDITS:

Longest downtime ever between game updates was 8 months (that was with an injury), we're almost 6 months in currently with a bigger team. That doesn't add up for business as usual.

Compare development by updates in fall of 2017 and fall of 2018 to now....

I certainly at least hope the update is worth the wait. And the devs can settle on a more reasonable update schedule like someone else suggested. Maybe small updates while working on something bigger.

Amen.

If the Devs do decide to continue updating MMM, I'm hope for something of this nature. Bite sized updates throughout the year while they work on the bigger full update versions.

Something that would also help would be downsizing the scope of full updates. Like instead of making an update theme of two different Mega Man games, just focus on one. At this point that should be pretty easy since we're running out of Mega Man titles to draw from.🤔
